Google is a big fan of blogs because of their interactive nature and because they’re constantly being updated with fresh content. But right out of the box a blog isn’t as fully functional as it could be,especially if you want to get into SEO and be able to drive quality traffic to your site. In this article I’ll go over a couple of the top wordpress plugins I use to help me with my SEO.
Here Are A Few Of My Top WordPress Plugins
This is one of my secret weapons I use to tweet my older posts and do it on complete autopilot. What this plugin does is randomly pick one of your older blog posts and tweet it out to your followers on twitter, bringing you extra traffic. You can also set it at any interval you like. I have it set it up to tweet my older posts every 4 hours.
This plugin is mandatory if you want to keep your on-page SEO in check. They give you a score out of 100 for whatever keyword you input. They also provide you with a checklist of things to optimize, the ones I focus on are the H1 tag and H2 tags, keyword density, ALT tag, a couple of links going to other pages (internal links), and that my keyword is in the first and last sentence.
If you didn’t know, images can actually bring a significant amount of traffic to your blog. This cool plugin will help you optimize your images for Google Image Search and help your images rank better.
This plugin will strengthen your on-page SEO, get your pages indexed easier, and let you know what specific keywords your visitors were typing into Google to get to your blog posts. You also have the option to convert those keywords into tags as well. What I like about this plugin is you can uncover some really good longtail keywords that people were typing in to get to your site, you could then get more ideas to create more content around those keywords.
All In One SEO is one of my favorite plugins when it comes to SEO because it’s so easy to use. It helps you optimize your blog’s meta tags and displays a box right below your “add new post” page giving you a place to add your title, meta description and keywords.
This is an awesome plugin that allows you to do all of your keyword research within the your wordpress dashboard. All you do is input your keyword and it pulls up all the information you’ll need to beat out the competition. One of the best features of this plugin is the ability to get suggestions when trying to come up with a compelling title for your blog post. Type in the title of your blog post, click “get suggestions” and it gives you instant stats so that you can choose the best blog title based on its overall searches per month, competitive nature and search trend!
These are just some of my top wordpress plugins to help you with your SEO, I’ll be adding to this list in the near future, so stay tuned!
