What I like about blogs is that they are more search engine friendly than websites because they’re constantly being updated, which Google’s fond of. When you publish content on your blog, the search engine bots will crawl your site and index your new content. When you link your pages to each other (internal linking) you give the search engine bots more options to crawl. This is important if your using keywords as your anchor text. There’s a handy plugin called All In One SEO Pack to help you with that.
When someone visits your blog and wants to voice their opinion, they can do that by commenting on your blog. You’ll get to know the people who comment regularly and be able to respond to their comments. When you get a lot comments on a certain topic, it will make other visitors stop and take notice, which will give you the chance to encourage them to comment as well.
Readers can subscribe to your blog via your RSS feed, just so you know, RSS stands for “Real Simple Syndication”. So when a reader subscribes to your RSS feed they can get your content delivered directly to their email, because of this they will be the first to know when you have new content. Regular websites on the other hand rarely update their content which would give their visitors no reason to visit your site on a regular basis. Another reason why I like blogs more than static sites, people visit them more frequently.
Blogging will help you with your personal branding. When you have a blog, you can become an authority in your niche by providing content that is relevant to your target market. People will view you as a leader in your niche because of the free training you provide. The more answers you have to people’s problems, the more you will brand yourself as a leader.
Just make sure you’re posting content regularly, and that your content is optimized for the search engines. While were on the subject of optimization there are two things you want to focus on, on-page and off-page optimization. So before we even talk about optimization we need to go over keyword research, because without using keywords that people are actively searching for, optimization won’t mean a hill of beans. You want to optimize your content for particular keywords, preferably “buyers” keywords. What keywords are people typing into the search engines when they’re in a “buyers mindset”, or when they’re close to buying but just want to get a second opinion before making a decision to pull out their credit card. On-page SEO is what you want to focus on first. Make sure you have your keyword in the title of your article, H1 and H2 tag, your image ALT tag, first and last sentence, and a keyword density at around 2%. Base emphasis on your keywords by having one in bold and one in italic as well. Off-page SEO is your next order of business, see it’s one thing to say that your own content is good, but guess what? Most people won’t take notice until someone raises their hand and “votes” for your content, those votes are what we call backlinks and what Google focuses on. That’s why SEO is going social, Google want’s to see that your content is being “liked” and tweeted and Google plus’d. These are what I call votes of approval, actual people recommending and sharing YOUR content to their social networks. Back to the subject of backlinks, once you have your on-page SEO in check, you want focus on getting as many backlinks as you can pointing back to your content. There are different type of backlinks you can get and you should try to diversify them. What I mean by diversify is to not just focus on getting backlinks from just article directories for example. I know focusing on one marketing strategy is important, but try to mix up your backlink profile, mix in a couple backlinks from blog comments, press releases, articles directories,guest posts,social networks, etc. Get more backlinks than the competition and you’ll have a better chance of outranking them for your chosen keyword.Check out this Traffic Graviator Review if you’re into SEO.
